Qasas CPA Firm

A Buffalo-area CPA firm was stuck on Squarespace and couldn't explain what it actually does. I rebuilt it as a React 19 app (30 routes across 10 page modules) organised around the client's lifecycle rather than a service menu: 8 stages from "thinking about starting" to "transitioning out". It ships 9 interactive calculators and published fees, which almost no firm does.

Pantry, the AI Recipe Recommender, ranking 12 recipes for chicken, rice, garlic and tomatoes. The top match, 10-Minute Bean Stew, shows a meter for 4 of its 8 ingredients, the four still needed, a 45 minute ready time and its diet tags.

AI Recipe Recommender

Type what's in your fridge, get recipes you can actually make. Started as a Python CLI, then rebuilt so the same Python and pandas code runs in your browser through WebAssembly, with no server to wake up. The interesting part was ranking partial matches: having 4 of 6 ingredients is usually more useful than a perfect match you can't cook.

  1. Sep 2025 to Present

    Qasas CPA Firm

    Remote

    Contract Developer

    • Rebuilt the firm's Squarespace website as a React 19 single-page application on Vite and Tailwind, with 30 routes across 10 page modules and a sitemap generated in the build step, ready to launch on the firm's domain.
    • Restructured the site around the client lifecycle rather than a service menu (8 stages, from starting a business through to exiting one), so visitors identify their own situation before any service is named.
    • Built 9 interactive calculators (LLC vs S-corp, reasonable salary, break-even, cost segregation and more) and published fee schedules across 5 pricing tracks, plus a keyboard-driven search palette over the full content set.
    • Architected all content into 10 data modules separate from components, so copy across 18 services, 12 guides, 7 comparisons and 20 industries is changed in plain data files rather than component code.
    • Automated a TaxDome → Google Sheets sync through Zapier, maintaining a continuously updated master record of accounts and contacts for versioned backups and downstream integrations.

  2. May 2025 to Aug 2025

    • Audited a 4,855-record TaxDome CRM export (2,639 accounts and 2,216 contacts across 136 fields) and designed a consolidated schema that eliminated custom fields already duplicated by platform defaults for address, email and phone.
    • Built an AI-assisted cleanup workflow using Claude with platform documentation as context, producing field-level merge and removal recommendations plus a documented change log for firm review, deliberately never editing source data in place.

    • Progressed from Front End Supervisor to TIA-certified Tire Center Supervisor, leading cross-functional teams and holding service, safety and productivity standards in a high-volume environment.
    • Own the resolution of POS, payment-system, work-order and equipment failures, guiding staff through troubleshooting and escalating to internal support or vendors when it isn't fixable on the floor.
    • Train and evaluate employees on system usage, technical procedure, documentation accuracy and safety requirements, and make time-sensitive operational calls under pressure.
